Best laser and radar installation locations.
Jul 07, 2007 – NIWOT, CO –
Here are a variety of vehicles showing where laser jammers and remote radar detectors should be installed. When installing a laser jammer, it is important to locate the laser modules at the best location possible. For example, the laser beam, aimed at a vehicle from 300 feet, has a typical beam diameter of 10-12″, depending on the laser gun manufacturer. At 600 feet, the beam is about 18-24″ wide, and at 1000 feet, the typical laser beam is about 30-36″ wide. If the laser beam is aimed on a headlight at the far right or left of the vehicle, the license plate or along the bumper, the laser modules have to be positioned such that wherever the beam is aimed, at long distances or short distances, the laser modules will detect the beam and jam it. The laser modules have to be installed at the right location, level and pointed straight down the highway. Our installation guides describe all the requirements and can be downloaded from our manual found in our Product Info link at the top of this page. A radar detector installed in the windshield can be located anywhere in the windshield as long as there is no metal in front of the detector. If a Remote Radar Detector is installed, the typical locations are behind the grille, inside the front leading edge of the bumper if the bumper is a foam core, plastic bumper. Two other locations for remote radar detectors are up on the luggage rack or ski rack of an SUV. We have several vehicles showing PROWLER REMOTE SYSTEMS installed with 360 degree radar laser protection.
