Anti-Laser AL8
The Anti-Laser AL8 is a new laser jammer produced in Europe using a solid state laser diode. It has been tested in the USa by the Guys of Lidar with supporting video showing its capability at jamming all major laser guns used in the USA and Europe.
LIDAR, Light Detection And Ranging. The LIDAR unit, or Laser Gun, emits a narrow laser beam towards the target, the vehicle. The laser beam is at a typical 904nm and is invisible to the eye. The laser beam pulse train looks like a picket fence with white pulses and dark shades between each white pulse. There are usually 40 or more laser pulses in the pulse train as it travels down the highway. The laser beam pulses strike the vehicle and a portion of the laser beam reflects back to the laser gun. The time that passes from the emission to the reception of the laser beam is measured in the Laser Gun, which then determines the distance to the target. Speed is then computed from the distance measurements.
The most popular LIDARs in Europe are: LTI Marksman 20-20, LTI Ultralyte, Kustom Pro laser III and the Jenoptik LaserPatrol (TraffiPatrol). Of these three guns, the Kustom Pro III is easy to jam.
In the industry today, there are now 3 laser jammers produced with solid state laser diodes: Anti-Laser AL8, Lidatek LE30 and Laser Blinder. Laser Blinder is produced in New Zealand and why it copies the name of Blinder is beyond me. Blinder is a trademarked name in Denmark, the Blinder Laser Jammer. Of these three products, the AL8 appears to be the most effective, although it has not officially been tested by Speed Measurement Labs as yet.
The AL8 laser jammer includes an audio visual and processor circuit. The audio-visual circuit includes an alert buzzer and two LED diodes (green and red), a power switch. The processor circuit is the centre of the AntiLaser, receiving signals from the detector circuit. It identifies the type of Laser gun targeting the vehicle, and sends the laser diode transmitter a special sequence of laser impulses for that specific laser gun.
The Guys of Lidar have conducted a thorough test of this product and the AL6 proved to jam at nearly 100% effectiveness. It does not appear to have heat problems, as with the Lidatek LE30. It is designed with water proof capabilities and the lens does not permit water condensation as with the Laser Blinder.
Two additional modes of operation are 1) Self Test and Collision Avoidance. No other laser jammer offers these three modes of operation in one package except, the Anti-Laser, AL8.
This may a product to test by Applied Technologies this June at the Speed Measurement Labs test in El Paso, Texas.
